ASK ME ANYTHING
What Do You Want to Know?
It’s natural to have lots of questions when you’re letting a stranger take care of your pet and we are here to put you mind at ease. If you still have something you’re unsure about after going through the list, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
WHEN SHOULD MY PUPPY COME IN FOR ITS FIRST GROOM?
It’s important to have your puppy groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. We recommend they come in two weeks after their last set of vaccinations. We will not clip your puppy on their first visit to the Spa as the evolution from a puppy to an adult coat is dependant on breed and a grooming regime will be suggested to suit your puppy. During their first visit your puppy will be introduced in a relaxed and fun way to the sights, sounds and smells of the grooming salon ensuring that future visits are stress free.
DO YOU USE DRYING CAGES?
We have a strict no drying cages policy. All pooch’s are finished by hand by our experienced stylists. We choose this for the safety and well-being of our canine clients, and while this increases the treatment time we refuse to compromise by operating equipment and practices used by other groomers.
WHAT IF I CANNOT PICK MY DOG UP FROM THE SPA AFTER ITS GROOMING TREATMENT?
I offer a drop off and pick up service which is subject to a small fee.
CAN I STAY AND WATCH WHILE YOU GROOM MY PET?
As your pooch loves you very much they will wiggle and move around trying to get close to you which is not safe while we are grooming. It is best to drop off your dog at their scheduled appointment time, and then come back when the treatment is finished. We are very happy to show our customers around the Spa so they can see where their pooch will have their treatment. Also please feel free to give us a call any time during the treatment to find out how your dog is doing.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH MY DOG FOR THEIR TREATMENT?
Before your pet comes to the Spa we strongly recommend they have a chance to relieve themselves. They may want to have a meal beforehand, but keep in mind if your pet is nervous, they might do better with an empty stomach. Feel free to bring along any special blankets, toys, or treats that you know your pooch loves. Also, it you have a preference please feel free to bring a photo of the type of haircut you would like.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY PET BE GROOMED?
This will be dependant on several factors such as your breed of dog, how often you brush them at home, whether they get dirty regularly or tend to get knots from wrestling and being boisterous plus many other factors. If you are unsure please don't hesitate to pop me a message to find out.
HOW OFTEN DOES MY DOG NEED A NAIL TRIMMING AND DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
Your dogs nails should be trimmed monthly. You will need to book an appointment for the spa but I can also come out to you.
MY DOG CAN BE AGGRESSIVE WHEN BEING GROOMED, CAN I BRING IT TO THE SPA?
Keeping a dog calm during the grooming process is just one of the requirements of a groomer. We understand that some dogs may have had a bad experience of grooming and now do not want or enjoy being groomed. This is one of the areas we specialise in, as through patience, massage techniques, aromatherapy, the right equipment, and time we are confident we can make the grooming experience enjoyable for all dogs. For those that are particularly traumatised we recommend a grooming program consisting of a series of shorter treatments where bath and drying is undertaken at one session, nail clipping and ear cleaning at another, hair clipping at another and so on. These should be spaced a regular intervals of 1 week to aid the training process. We would be happy to discuss a treatment plan with you if your pet requires this service. For pooch’s who do not have to get over a previous bad experience but generally do not liked being groomed we will book these in under a standard treatment to determine their requirements. It is very rare to find an ungroomable dog but if we come across any serious problems during a treatment we will discuss them with you so we can agree on a solution together. In some cases your dog may benefit from being groomed by your vet under sedation.
WHAT IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE GROOMING SERVICE MY DOG RECEIVES?
If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the treatment received, please advise within 2 business days so we can do our best to rectify it. Pet parents satisfaction is important to us. We take great pride in our service and want pooch’s parents to as well.
DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ANIMALS OTHER THAN DOGS AND CATS?
Yes, we are super confident with various animal species from chickens and hamsters to horses and budgies.
WHEN DOES YOUR GROUP WALK TAKE PLACE
Group Adventure Walks take place Monday to Thursday 12.30pm to 1.30pm, with pick being any time from 11.45am and drop off between 1.45pm and 2.30pm.
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU WALK AT ONCE?
My walking group can accommodate up to 6 well behaved dogs. There are no current restrictions in St Helens on the number of dogs that one person can walk, however, we always have 2 people on our group walks and we take the safety of our dogs and the general public very seriously. My insurance also requires that a group is no larger than 6. Dogs that cannot be well behaved will be kept on a lead and possibly removed from the group walk.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PET NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET WHILST I AM ON HOLIDAY?
During our initial consultation we will take all your vets details and medical information for your pets including information for yourself and emergency contacts. Should your pet need to see a vet we will take them immediately. In the case of an emergency your pet will be taken the nearest vets, however if able to we will take your pet to your own vet. We will contact you immediately and if we cannot get hold of you then your emergency contacts.
I'M GOING ON HOLIDAY AND HAVE A CAT AND AM INTERESTED IN YOUR POP IN SERVICE, HOW MANY VISITS A DAY DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Generally we recommend that your cat has at least 2 half an hour pop in visits a day, one morning and one evening. However this is always dependant on your cats, age, health and needs which can be discussed fully in our initial consultation.
I'M GETTING MARRIED AND WOULD LOVE MY DOG TO BE PART OF OUR DAY, CAN YOU HELP US WITH THIS?
Yes! We provide amazing wedding day chaperone packages. We will tailor your package completely to yourself so your dog doesn't miss any of the action and you can have peace of mind that your dog shared this super special day with you. We can collect and transport your dog to wherever they need to be, perform pre wedding grooms and dressing up if you have a special outfit for them, walk them down the aisle or coordinate with the bridal party for someone else to walk them down the aisle, provide assistance with the wedding photos plus much much more. Get in touch to discuss this further.
MY DOG DOESN'T GET ALONG WITH OTHER DOGS, CAN YOU STILL WALK HIM/HER?
Of course! we offer one to one Adventure Walks and are very sensitive to your dogs needs and fears. We will never put your dog in a situation with another dog and will avoid areas like dog parks if we know they are reactive in these areas. Although we are highly experienced in working with reactive and nervous dogs we cannot guarantee 100% your dog will never come into contact with another whilst out and about (due to other irresponsible owners) but we will always do our upmost to make your dog as comfortable as possible and aid them in building their confidence. There are local private secure fields available for hire that we can use for an additional cost if this is something that interests you.
